On Friday, August 25th, in commemoration of Women’s Equality Day, Brookhaven Town Clerk Donna Lent was on hand to ring the NASDAQ opening bell. A brief press conference was held afterwards to highlight the need for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Women’s Equality Day is celebrated every year on August 26th, which is the anniversary date of the certification of the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution which gave women the right to vote. “Achieving gender equality is our collective responsibility, it requires the engagement of each one of us, women and men, girls and boys,” said Town Clerk Lent.
