10th Annual Summer Campaign To Combat Teen Obesity

Wanda’s Weight Room Plus (WRP) announced that it is launching its 10th annual “Free Teen Summer Membership” program on May 22, 2017. Non-Members’ as well as WRP Members’ Teenagers ages 12 to 15 can sign up a free summer membership that will allow them Club access from June 12, to August 31, 2017. This program, which was spearheaded to help fight teen obesity, is in its tenth year.
Interested teens must visit WRP with a parent or legal guardian to sign up and bring proof of age. After registration, teen members can work out, unaccompanied, and enjoy all day access 7 days a week from 10AM to close. In addition to access to the club’s state-of-the-art strength training equipment and cardio machines, they can participate in group fitness classes, like Zumba, Yoga, Bootcamp, Cycle, Kickbox and more.
“Teen obesity has risen to epidemic proportions. If WRP can continue to introduce kids to health and fitness in a fun way, then we feel that we can contribute to giving teens a shot at lives unblemished by such health issues as diabetes and heart disease,” says Bruce Bentley, Manager of WRP.
“By inviting teens to work out for free, we can help them engage in a healthy lifestyle and establish a life-long routine that includes fitness,” says Bentley. “Self esteem in overweight teens can be quickly recaptured when they start exercising and feeling good about their appearances again.”
