The William Floyd Athletic Department recently held its annual College Athletic Signing Day to recognize the efforts and achievement of William Floyd’s student athletes who are among the top six percent of all high school athletes in the nation who will play sports at the college level.
This year’s class of 27 male and female student athletes has been recruited to play various sports at Division I, II and III schools this upcoming fall. Leading this year’s class of student athletes is girls soccer standout Amber Birchwell who will bring her talents to NCAA Division I and play for the Providence College Friars.
“The hard work, dedication and perseverance of these student athletes has paid off,” said Mark Mensch, Athletic Director, William Floyd School District. “Competitive athletics, along with focusing on academics, has opened up a world of opportunity for these young men and women. I look forward to following their collegiate careers and seeing them compete at the next level.”
This year’s list consists of 17 males and 10 females from the sports of girls and boys lacrosse, girls and boys soccer, girls and boys cross country/track, girls and boys tennis, girls basketball, softball, baseball and football.
