WFMS Birds of PreyOn Thursday March 16 the members of the Rotary Club of the Moriches honored the women of the PaQuaTuck Squaws.
The Squaws are a group of women dedicated to raising funds to support Camp PaQuaTuck. Through various fund raising events including the long running Spooky Walk this group of amazingly dedicated women have raised well over one million dollars all to benefit the camp.
On Thursday evening the president of the Squaws, Dorothy Elliot, and all the Squaws presented a check to camp treasurer, Newton Homan, in the amount of $160,000.00.
A portion of this years donation, $50,000.00, will be used to construct a new state-of-the-art playground specifically designed for children with developmental disabilities.
To honor the Squaws, The Rotary Club of the Moriches, will be naming the playground after The Moriches PaQuaTuck Squaws.
