Support For Local Animal Shelters

Tangier Smith Elementary School has collected several boxes of donations to benefit the animals at the Southampton Animal Shelter for the annual “My Furry Valentine” pet donation drive. Students and staff collected donations such as bedding, blankets, food, toys and more while the animals await adoption. The William Floyd High School Key Club also pitched in and collected donations for the shelter. Special thanks to Lorraine Wimpelberg, a 10th grader at William Floyd High School and Key Club member who was instrumental in the effort. Carol Bauhs, a volunteer at the Southampton Animal Shelter, presented Tangier Smith Elementary School Principal Toni Komorowski with a certificate of thanks for the efforts of her students and staff. Additionally, the William Paca Middle School Student Government held a pet donation drive of their own, resulting in more than 100 items for the animals at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter.
