Dress For Success!

Dear Editor:

Each year hundreds of women come through our doors – women who have lost their jobs, survived abuse, or simply faced challenges that have held them back. Dress for Success Brookhaven gives these women hope and a second chance to succeed both professionally and personally. By providing women with the tools and resources needed to find a job and keep it, we are empowering them to create a brighter future and inspiring them to follow their dreams. We cannot offer these life changing services without your support!

A small gift goes a long way to ensure that disadvantaged women thrive in work and in life. Your gift will enable women across Long Island to participate in our programs. It is through these opportunities that women gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s job market while also receiving guidance and support during the difficult job search process.
On May 12, 2017 we will be holding our Annual Fundraiser “A Taste of Country” at Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard. By sponsoring or donating you have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women in our community. A sponsorship to our event will enable women to participate in the full range of Dress for Success affiliate program offerings including; access to professional attire, Career Center training, our unique job readiness Career EDGE program and our Professional Women’s Group. It is through these programs that a woman will gain the confidence she needs to build her career. These tools are an important step towards truly achieving economic independence. For more information please visit www.dressforsuccessbrookhaven.weebly.com.

By supporting Dress for Success Brookhaven through your donation, you are helping to ensure that we have the necessary funding throughout the year to provide our services to deserving women. Please consider how much of a difference you can make with this simple pledge. Join us as we help these women to create better futures and become positive role models for their families and communities. Sponsorship information is attached and thank you in advance for your generosity.

Let the Grown Ups Finish the Job!

Dear Editor:

Mr. Anderson, Mr. Ricciardi and Ms. Soldano were the main architects of the “Save The Village” campaign. In their campaign to “Save the Village” they sought to vilify the Town of Brookhaven, Supervisor Ed Romaine and Councilman Dan Panico. They claimed these leaders would use “eminent domain” and “steal” all the properties below Neighborhood road. A campaign of lies and slander that thankfully did not blind the residents to the truth. Mastic Beach voters came out in full force to vote overwhelmingly to return to the Town of Brookhaven. Supervisor Romaine and Councilman Panico have spoken repeatedly at both the Mastic Beach Property Owners Association and the Pattersquash Creek Civic Association of their commitment to coming into the village with “shock and awe” to “clean up the mess”.
Now, we are told by the “Save the Village/Residents Unite Party” that they are going to be the team to lead the transition to go back to the town?! The Party who called the town, their employees and leaders, thieves and liars? This is preposterous, ridiculous and stupid. They are the last people who should be negotiating with the town. The three amigos of Chris, Chris and Diana need to slink away and let the responsible adults finish the job.
It is so important that the residents go out and VOTE for the mature adults – Bob Miller, Fred Krage and Vic Viola on Tuesday March 21st from 12-9pm at MASTIC BEACH VILLAGE HALL 369 Neighborhood Rd. Let’s finish the job and get back to the Town as soon as possible.

The South Shore Press Community Viewpoint

Dear Editor:

This year, individual volunteers and groups can once again join the 10th Annual Great Brookhaven Cleanup, part of the Great American Cleanup™, the nation’s largest organized cleanup, beautification and community improvement program.
Last year nearly 3,300 Brookhaven residents joined 5 million volunteers in more than 20,000 communities across America to pick up over 40 million pounds of litter, over 200 million pounds of recycling, beautify 81,000 miles of roadway, and clean up rivers, lakes and seashores in their communities.
This year’s Great Brookhaven Cleanup is scheduled for May 20, 2017. We hope that you will participate in this amazing event and become part of Keep Brookhaven Beautiful’s good people doing great things in 2017.

There are several ways in which your group can participate:
* Litter cleanups on streets, parks, playgrounds
* School cleanups
* River, lake and seashore cleanups
* Commercial Site / Shopping Center cleanups
* Nature trail, woodland trail and field cleanups
* Beautification/community improvement projects
Please register online at brookhavenny.gov or call the Town of Brookhaven Department of Waste Management at 451-TOWN to explore your best option for participating in this worthy community event. Don’t miss this great opportunity to be part of the 10th Annual Great Brookhaven Cleanup and help fight litter. Thank you for all that you do.

Sincerely,Edward P. Romaine, Supervisor, Brookhaven Town
