LI ACADEMY STUDENTS REPAIR, DONATE LAPTOPS

BTC BAC Laptops 2017.2Students helping other students – that was the motivating factor behind the recent laptop donation from Giovanni Chiarelli’s class at the Long Island Academy’s Bixhorn Technical Center to fellow students at the Bellport Academic Center. Chiarelli teaches the Computer Technology and Repair Program. His students overhauled eight laptops and presented them to fellow students, who were in need, at the other school. Bixhorn Technical Center is part of the Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology, the career and technical education arm of Eastern Suffolk BOCES. Bellport Academic Center is an Eastern Suffolk BOCES school that provides special education services to high school-aged students. “This was a complete surprise for those students who received the laptops,” said Chiarelli. “They had no idea it was in the works, which was terrific. This was a fantastic opportunity for my students to use their time and skills to benefit others.”
