William Floyd’s Annual “Taking Down Autism” Tournament Raises $2,200 for Autism Speaks

Rotary Wrestling donationThe William Floyd Colonials wrestling team recently hosted its 11th Annual “Taking Down Autism” Wresting tournament featuring a day of fundraising and competition against some of the top teams in Suffolk County. In total, the fundraiser collected $2,234 to benefit Autism Speaks/Nicky’s Team, including a generous $1,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Shirley and the Mastics. Teams participating in the tournament were Comsewogue; Smithtown West; Islip (ranked No. 9 in Suffolk); Eastport-South Manor (ranked No. 5 in Suffolk); and Mattituck (ranked No. 1 in Suffolk and in NYS Division II). The Colonials put forth a strong performance and were led by Captain Brett Platt, 4-1, three pins; Marcus Campisi, 4-1, three pins; and Andrew Passaro, 5-0, three technical falls. Head coach Tony Mecca would like to thank the Rotary Club for their generous donation and the parents of the wrestlers for donating their time and food for this worthwhile cause.
