William Floyd Girls Varsity Soccer Clinches Playoff Berth

WFSD girls soccersmWFSD girls soccer celebrationsmmCongratulations to the William Floyd varsity Colonials girls soccer team, which just clinched their first playoff appearance since 2008 with an impressive 3-0 victory over Sachem North on Wednesday, September 28! The Colonials, led by head coach Matthew Sanders, were powered by two goals from Amber Birchwell (16th and 17th on the season) and an insurance goal by Brianna LoMonaco which capped off the scoring. Coach Sanders also lauded the team’s defense, which recorded its third consecutive shutout behind goalkeeper Makayla Willets (seven saves). The Colonials are currently in second place in League I, sporting an 8-2 overall record (7-2 League).
