NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a petition seeking to dissolve the Incorporated Village of Mastic Beach was submitted to the Village Clerk of Mastic Beach on August 30, 2016. The Village Clerk determined the petitions valid on September 8, 2016, within ten days, pursuant to General Municipal Law §779.

A duly noticed Public Meeting was held at Village Hall on September 15, 2016, to discuss the proposed Dissolution, the procedures involved, and to provide the opportunity for public comment. Thereafter, on that same date, the Village of Mastic Beach Board of Trustees adopted a resolution setting forth the date of the Public Referendum on the proposed dissolution of the Incorporated Village of Mastic Beach to be submitted to a vote of the people.

The referendum vote will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the Mastic Beach Fire Department located at 265 Neighborhood Road, Mastic Beach, New York, from 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm.

The question will appear on the ballot as follows:

“Shall the Incorporated Village of Mastic Beach be dissolved?

YES

NO.”

Dissolution shall take effect if a majority of the electors registered to vote in the Incorporated Village of Mastic Beach vote in favor of dissolution; if such a majority vote does not result, the referendum shall fail and dissolution shall not take effect.
