Seatuck Cove Rotary Raise $1,300.00 for Veterans

DSC_0068 (4)smA community networking event featuring Congressman Lee Zeldin was hosted recently by the Rotary Club of Seatuck Cove at JC’s Restaurant in Manorville. “We are proud to host Congressman Zeldin and raise money that will be donated to local veterans groups,” said Club President Martin Hawley.
“The Congressman brings unique insight to veteran’s issues,” Hawley continued. “He is not only an Army veteran, but he continues to serve today as a Major in the Army Reserves. In addition, our Congressional district has the highest population of veterans by county in New York State and one of the largest in the entire country.”
As a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, Zeldin shares a passion with Rotarians for helping veterans in the first Congressional District. He has proposed legislation (H.R. 2460) to expand care for disabled veterans that was unanimously passed by the committee with strong bipartisan support, Hawley noted.
Also at the networking event, the Rotary Club made a donation to the Kristen Bednar surf camp for autistic children. “Every year, we have a wonderful day at Cupsogue Beach teaching youngsters how to surf,” said club member Bob Chartuk, a Center Moriches resident who’s coached at the camp for the last 10 years.
The Rotary Club of Seatuck Cove is about connecting leaders, exchanging ideas, making lasting change, and building community. “We are neighbors, community leaders, and global citizens uniting for the common good. With your help, we can accomplish even more. Please join us for a club meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays at JC’s Restaurant, 2 Country Club Drive, Manorville,” Hawley said.
