Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Participates Once Again In The LI2 Day Walk

large2The weather held up as our fabulous Brookhaven team of 22 walkers and 25 volunteers manned the medical MASH tent, provided Physical Therapy support, helped with the clean-up and enthusiastically cheered on walkers and survivors – all gathered at Smith’s Point Park for the annual LI2Day Walk. The goal of the Walk is to raise awareness and funds to combat breast cancer and other women’s cancers and also support survivors and their families. Once again, Richard T. Margulis, President and CEO BMHMC drove the ‘Sweep Van’ and assisted any tired or injured walkers. The day ended with survivors and fellow walkers crossing the Smith Point Bridge in a solemn but uplifting procession as bagpipes played in memory of those who have succumbed to cancer. The Brookhaven team worked very hard to raise funds for this event and it is not too late to make a donation by reaching out to BMHMC’s Merilyn Konnerth at (631) 654-7577. The funds received from the LI2Day Walk will benefit Brookhaven’s newly formed Breast Cancer Coalition. Since 2005, Brookhaven has been fortunate to be the recipient of over $328,000 from the LI2Day! Thank you to everyone throughout the BMHMC community for once more displaying tremendous generosity through contributions of time, money, energy and spirit.
