The Brookhaven Highway Department has just completed a paving project in the hamlet of Shirley that has drastically improved roadway conditions between Smith Road and William Floyd Parkway. The streets included in the project were: Adobe Drive, Alder Lane, Breston Drive West, Cypress Lane, Flintlock Drive, Happy Acres Drive, Lama Drive, Loughlin Drive, Malba Drive, Maple Lane, Margin Drive West, Musket Drive, Probst Drive, Propose Road, Ranch Drive, Smith Road, Tipton Drive West and Westwood Drive.
“The completion of this project addresses the major artery of Smith Road and many of the surrounding streets in this neighborhood,” said Daniel P. Losquadro, Brookhaven Town Superintendent of Highways. “Residents in this community have been waiting for many years to have their roads paved and it is gratifying to know we have provided them with long term improvements.”
Within the same time frame the Highway Department, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Department of Public Works, made improvements to the intersection of William Floyd Parkway and Margin Drive West. A left turning lane was installed on Margin Drive West for south bound motorists turning onto William Floyd Parkway
